- Hi Jeff!
-
- Sorry I haven't responded earlier. I've been on my back for the past week.
- Something got clogged/burst in an artery and I lost about 3 pints of the red
- stuff. This happened the morning after I'd posted the message which got
- this whole furor started..so take your satisfaction out of that!
-
-
- >Willy, I can't seem to interpret this in any way other than "Willy Tamm
- >thought that Jeff and Asha don't get internet connections so Willy can
- >freely cast aspersions on the internet with no possible repercussions."
-
- Why would I think either of you aren't on the Net. Fact is, I sent Asha
- private email, with an explanation as to the purpose of my original post,
- and you and I have traded thoughts on the issue several times.
-
- Do you really feel that there is much of a difference in communication
- between the 'Net' and Fido. A year ago, yes. Six months ago, very little.
- Now, virtually none. If AT do manage to hang in there, what are they
- considering that their saviour will be (akin to when C= was gambling on the
- CD32 as their last hope)? The Surfer package, and now, it would seem from
- Ceebit the "Walker" or whatever it's going to be called. Another way
- to spell both is "Internet".
-
- No Jeff, I cannot possibly imagine why I would think that you couldn't get
- Internet connections; nor why I would want to think that.
-
- As to the comment of "casting aspersions with no possible repercussions"
- (wow, you're good Jeff, would you consider being my spell checker?:-),
- what's been said has been said out in the open...I don't debate...I don't
- knowingly cast any apersions (had to look that one up in the dictionary -
- seems to mean to insult someone with the intention of malice), although
- some people are known to read out of context following the first word
- which upsets their own particular sense of propriety.
-
- I really don't know what else to say on this issue other than the fact that
- if you feel I have some sort of a vendetta against two reputable Amiga
- users, you grossly underestimate me.
-
-
- >Wrong on all counts. I'm really tired of you skipping over the issues
- >with cutesy generalizations instead of dealing with each person on an
- >individual basis.
-
- Sorry, Jeff. If it's an ongoing debate that you want, point by point...
- I'm not the man. My eldest son who's far more knowledgeable about these
- things than I am tells me that you are the author of a major BBS program.
- Might that account for your fanaticism to Fidonet. Internet will change
- its useage, but I suspect that the local BBS operator, together with
- points across the land will be here after we're gone.
-
- I would more likely judge from your proficiency as a programmer that you
- orderly and like to deal with issues, point by point. Unfortunately,
- there is little room in my personality for that. I gather as many points
- as quickly as I can, from whatever sources, and then make quick decisions.
- My profession also demands that from me.
-
- >....................................... as you point out, only someone
- >with a certain amount of naivette accepts a source without question, eh?
- >Soon you'll be as cynical about them as most people.
-
- I agree, a source should seldom, if ever, be accepted without question.
- But every source should be examined, placed in context, analyzed.....That's
- how the FBI work, that's how a court of law works, that's how a good stock
- broker works. It isn't until you know everything that you can get your
- hands on that you can develop a perspective for what to discard. And in the
- fast moving computer business, today's musings, or planted rumors could well
- be the start of a new business plan tomorrow.
